When I bought my MH it was noisy and my foot would get hot. It had a layer of a bubble type material about 3/8 in thick with an aluminum foil facing the eng. I added a another layer of 1/2 in jute felt material with a aluminum foil on the inside. It was inexpensive I think I bought it at Lowe's or HD and bonded it with Weldwood contact adhesive. It greatly reduced the heat and sound. I can hear the dash fan over the eng and usually drive barefoot.
