I used Cool-it under the doghouse or our 1997 Southwind gasser and it DID reject a lot of heat and we could now talk at a reasonable tone when the engine fan engaged. My wife and son crawled around the doghouse area on a trip and agreed it was cooler on the doghouse after the mat, but still way too warm around the floor area.
I bought a second batch and pulled up the carpet. then I laid a second covering on the top of the doghouse and along the firewall (vertical areas). I glued the new carpet to that and things became quieter. We can't tell if it is cooler.
I am going to buy a third batch and concentrate on the under side along the edges of the doghouse in the zones where the engine tends to overheat the floor: about 6-12" to the sides and 2-3' to the rear, over the transmission. Also, on the areas directly over the engine fan to deaden the noise. On my RV that area is just 3/4" plywood. It is difficult to get to, but I think the effort will pay off.
SO, if I had to do it all over again, I'd have bought the BIG roll and done it all at once. LOL
I need to mention another way to deaden road noise; the inexpensive peel and stick vinyl tiles available at Lowes and Home Depot (and others). We removed the furniture and tore-up our carpet and replaced it all, front to back, just because my wife hates carpet.... (the carpet backing and pad itself were immaculate). In addition to getting the carpet out and having easy to clean vinyl on the floor, I found the weight of the vinyl DID noticeably deadened road noise> It also works like a big heavy blanket just like the Cool-in sheets!
Not a bad pair of DIY projects for about $700 total in parts and almost no maintenance or upkeep. Good luck
