Shift cable

I purchased a used 2004 Gulf Stream Ultra Supreme 36 ft. class A motorhome last year. The shift cable has some way gotten too close to the muffler and was burned. The unit would not start and, of course, would not shift. I am now being told that Ford no longer makes this cable--or has it available. Am not sure what transmission is on the unit, but I find this hard to believe. Does anyone have any ideas on what I can do?
  • Look on the cable for a tag with the ford part number. If you can find take it to a good dealership and have them do an obselete parts search.

May be able to find another dealer with one in stock.

Try to go to parts dept. at a slow time if day. This has worked well in the past for me. Good luck dave
  • Might try the GS Owners Forum on IRV2.com.......

They have a couple of very knowledgeable GS owners there......
  • A good transmission shop should be able to find a replacement cable that would work, I would think.
