Should I wax the fiberglass roof?

I used to wax the fiberglass roof on my previous coach with Nu Finish. That got to be too much work for me.

On my current rig, I decided to follow the recommendations of others who have used Zep floor wax. I washed the roof and put three coats of Zep High Traffic floor finish. It looks absolutely great. I have no streaking down the sides. I am told by others that it will generally last a full year. I recently had my coach washed by a mobile RV wash vendor in Myrtle Beach. His guys noted how easy it was to wash my roof. I put the Zep on early spring of this year.

Yes, and IMHO, it will increase the life of your roof. Several years back, I bought a one year old used Class A that had not had the roof cleaned and/or waxed by the prior owner and here in Vegas, with the sun and heat, you could see and feel the roughness and damage in the strands of the fiberglass. It took the better part of two days to properly clean and wax. I currently use Maguire's or other top name brand, liquid wax and apply a medium to heavy coat with a foam pad on the buffer. I do it at leas once per year just prior to the start of the summer heat. and when possible, again in the late fall.

My roof has a very deep diamond non skid about two feet wide on both sides then the middle is flat. Looks like it would be a pita to wax. I saw a receipt in a folder that was for $1,500.00 in the rv and they removed everything from the roof and put bus coat on it. I only had her a few weeks so still learning.

Use the same wash/wax liquid(Blue Coral, Turtle Wax, Etc) that you use to wash the sides of the coach. That way it gets some UV protection that Zep #3 floor wax DOES NOT provide. You need the UV protection for your fiberglass and paint so use an exterior product that has it.

seems to me that all of my fiberglass boats have been out in the sun 24/7/365 with a double dose of sunshine from sky and from water and I haven't waxed them.

Just wash with Clorox and Blue Coral Wash and Wax in a bucket of water. Two cups or so of each then add water and wash with long handled bristle brush. The Blue Coral has 10% bees wax in it and the Clorox bleaches the spots and streaks. It works for the entire exterior including awning material.

I use a liquid wax! No way I'm I going to use a paste wax! Too much work for this old guy!
