Shower backed up

It sounds like your gauge is off. When it says 1/2 or 3/4 full, it is really on Full and that's why the water is backing up. Gauges being off is very common.

Hair ball... Even though a strainer is in place hair gets through and makes a hair ball over time. Getting it out means taking out strainer and getting something like long skinny tweezers and hooking on to it.

I've started with the tank empty and filled the tank from the kitchen sink. When my gauge gets to half full, I have nothing coming up through the shower. When I continue to fill my gauge will go full, and then it will begin to fill the shower.

That actually sounds correct
Sounds like the tank is full, can you tell if the shower tub water is rising as you continue to pour into the sink? Or did I miss something?

OP...can you take a toilet plunger and "push" the water in the shower down into the tank?...does it stay in the tank, or return up into the shower back to the same level?

When you described the tank letting go all at once after draining a small amount indicates to me that you have a venting problem moreso than the plastic plug problem. If you can, check the grey tank for the roof vent pipe being placed to far down in the tank.

Tried the plunger early on and it does nothing. The water doesn't go down, or come back up, just stays at the level it's at.

Check your " P " trap ..... may have an obstruction in it. Just thinking. :h

You should call American Coach customer service. Have your FIN # ready and you can get a copy of the plumbing diagram emailed to you. They are also very good at trouble-shooting problems. Most of the CS people have worked in the factory for years. Also, join the American Coach Form on Yahoo. Someone else has probably had the same issue.

OP...can you take a toilet plunger and "push" the water in the shower down into the tank?...does it stay in the tank, or return up into the shower back to the same level?
