I never tried to use my water pump in my "new to me" RV. Always used the city water hookup. Today I turn the pump on for the first time and it runs all the time and the water pressure in low. It's ShurFlo model #2088-403-144 pump. Says 2.8 GPM on it. My question is:shouldn't the pump ran for a minute and then shut off?Do you think my pump is bad?Is so can I replace it with a higher volume one, like a 3.5 GPM pump?

Turn the input lever from "shore" water to use water from your on board water tank.

Confusing looking chart, but you seem to have it correct. The settings are for filling or pumping from your onboard tank as best as I can figure. I would be looking for where this pump is trying to send water(as in leaks or other valves open beyond the pump). A pump will also run all the time if the tank is empty or it is sucking air.

Most likely ducking air since he hasn't seen water under rig or water in the coach.

Updated: Finally found the problem. It's the pump. Installed a new ShurFlo 3.5 GPM fresh water pump today and the system is working great!

You may be able to clear the problem.
Remove the pump, remove screws from pump end and clean the three small diaphragm disks. No guarantee but it make have debris stopping the pump from working.
I would not get one of the repair kits. You get a new pump for a few dollars more.

Slightly off topic but we carry a spare pump `just in case'.

Pump runs continuously...water comes out of faucets but pressure is low
City water supplies water and pump doesn't run with city water
Disconnected city water..pump runs no pressure

PUMP is BAD.

Replace with Shurflo 4048 Model.

Diaphragm in pump maybe split. Could be replaceable.

"water does leak out around the city water" (when the pump is switched on and running?) If so, the leak would be equal to a faucet turned on and you would not get much pressure opening another faucet. (unless the leak is very marginal) but any leak will keep the "demand" pump running.

As far as a bigger pump I plan to replace my pump with a sure flow 4048 series that is a 5 g.pm. Pump with 55 psi it also boasted smooth flow and no rapid cycling or ratcheting as I call it.
You may want to put a restrictor type aerator on your shower head if you don't have a large fresh water tank.

Are you sure you have water in your water tank? Kind of a silly question but???? Have you tried turning the fill tank valve to make sure it is working? One way should fill tank other way sends water to faucets. Just some ideas.
