With automobiles there are Technical Service Bulletins(TSB's) that alert a dealer or repair shop of any defect that has occurred on a regular basis. The safety issues become a recall and in SOME cases, the TSB's are taken care of by the manufacturer even if the vehicle is out of warranty. These TSB's are available online for anyone to look up on their vehicle.
Back in 2005 Allison put a 5 year 200,000 mile warranty on their transmissions but don't expect ANY RV manufacturer to follow suit. They do not have that much faith in their own products. In most cases, once the short warranty period is up, you are on your own.
