Sitting @ Dinette w/slide in when stopped?

I was wondering if it is ok to sit at the dinette when stopped with the slide in?

We were told we should not walk on the floor of the retracted slide on our 5th wheel.

Sometimes space/time constraints might not allow for the dinette slide to be extended in order to have a meal.

    The slide floor is not supported so we're told to stay off of it. But what about the slides with the heavy kitchen?

    One of the many reasons why I don't like slides is the "quick stop" when you don't want to extend them.

    All slide equipped units I have seen have some sort of placard which states, "Do not step on the floor of the slide room when it is retracted" or words to that effect.

    The slide out floor has little, if any support when it is retracted. As such, I would stay off of it.

    This is one of many reasons why I do not like slides in a motorhome.
