- down_homeExplorer IIIt's been 8 years. When we called Freedom Care they had a tech come on line and diagnose problem.
Cat has a number. We keep club memberships active and Freightliner.
Yourengine manual should have a phone number. If not look on the net.
They will help you over the phone and if you need to find a repair facility close by. - DSDP_DonExplorerI know you're broke down and at their mercy, but if they couldn't get it started, how did they diagnose all six injectors are bad. If they had a code stating all six were bad, different story. I think you'll find they'll do all this work and the coach still won't run. The bill will start growing astronomically.
I would want some proof that there is no fuel at the injectors. At least have them walk you through their thought process and why they feel you need all of this work. Put a little pressure on them to assure you they're not just shot gunning this issue with parts. Sometimes a little pressure will make them rethink spending your money.
Good luck.... - wolfe10ExplorerIf major work is suggested, take it to the ENGINE MANUFACTURER'S DEALER.
If Caterpillar, to Caterpillar.
Cummins, to Cummins. Etc.
Kind of like, don't go to a GP for a heart transplant. - just_meExplorerDon't buy there BS. Have the injectors checked out before replacing them. could be a pump or filters. How was it running before? Was it missing? no power obviously. Check the easy stuff first.
My sons freight liner taken to the shop for a overhead adjustment and a turbo oil drain gasket. Running fine. Called him told him he needed injectors tooo and was installing them,,, he said no injectors not authorized to do so.Injectors are OK. Just do the right-up. zealous write up clerk looking for business. - charlie_good_tiExplorerI will add also it is good policy that fuel tanks are filled with fuel before they are parked for storage an soon as possible after a trip.Reason is some hot fuel is returned to tank an with tank some what empty as the fuel an air cool outside moisture ladden air will be drawn in an moisture will condense on tank sides an contimaniate fuel.
- ScottGNomadCharlie has a good point, any time a diesel doesn't run right, replace the fuel filters first.
- charlie_good_tiExplorerI would first make sure your fuel filters have been checked .Rv sitting around most of time are possible to have developed bacteria in there fuel tank an that will plug filters an cause problem you have.I find it hard to believe mechanic has decided you need all 6 injectors replaced??? How did he decide on that?I WOULD DISCUSS your problem with someone you might know who is knowelagelable on diesel engines. But if filters have not been checked insist on it first!!!
- mike_brezExplorerOk got it. The Heui pump likes good clean fresh oil. It's not uncommon when the pump $hits the bed metal shavings take out all the injectors.
