Skylight dome in bathroom leaks when it rains

I also have a leak around the front windshield. I suspect the leak is not right over where the water drips out so I want to put temporary tape over the areas I suspect leak before I scrape off existing caulk. What kind of tape could I use (roof is rubber, front windsheild is fiberglass and rubber) that would not be hard to remove and doesn't leave sticky residue?
  • Please clarify-- title says skylight dome leak. Body says windshield leak.

How is the windshield presently held in-- gasket, caulk?
  • I have recommended many times using Heng's rubber roof seal. Goes on like paint.

I wouldn't use tape. Not only is it not likely to seal up for very long, I know of no tape that leaves no residue.. eventually.
  • If you're going to use a hose to check for leaks, a good quality masking tape should work ok and come off cleanly. The front ID/clearance lights are fairly common leak points that often appears to be a windshield leak.
  • I want to use the tape to determine where it is actually leaking before I scrape off caulk and replace it or add additional caulk to something that does not need it. I'm gonna get a lot of rain in the next couple of days so I can tape it and see what happens.
    Anybody have a better idea???
