- rgatijnet1Explorer IIIJust make sure that you have a functioning CO detector just in case.
- Mandalay_ParrExplorerYes, I've run it constantly for 3 days at a time. Many times over night.
- zigzagrvExplorerI have run my gen all night, but I use a GEN-TURI, which directs the exhaust over the top of the motorhome. I would not run it all night without one.
- Bill_SatelliteExplorer IIYes, you can run it at night. You windows will all be closed and the exhaust should not come inside. I had to run my generator for 9 days 24/7 while working in NOLA after Katrina. No campgrounds and way too hot to turn it off with pets at home while we were working.
- gboppExplorerYou can make your own Gen-Turi Type Exhaust if you don't want to buy one.
There are other sites, just do a search.
And, obviously, check the exhaust system on your generator for any leaks or potential leaks. - EffyExplorer III know many folks do and this is not a criticism to them but I refuse to run it while we are all sleeping. I think it states clearly in the manual not to run the genset while sleeping due to the risk of carbon monoxide poisoning. When I run mine and we are sitting still, I occasionally smell the exhaust so it doesn't take much to get fumes into something as poorly sealed and insulated as an RV. To be clear, I don't have a genturi and I don't dry camp a lot. But even if I did, I am not sure I would risk it. Just not a big fan of me or my family not waking up the next morning. That said, I know hundreds of people tailgating do it all the time. I imagine it's pretty safe, but not worth the risk for us.
- Two_JayhawksExplorerI have done it once or twice years ago and I would likely not do it again. We haven't dry camped in years but if we ever did it wouldn't be in extreme temps where genny would be needed all night.
- Big_KatunaExplorer IIGo to a maor college football game and you will find hundreds of RVs that run their genset 24 hours a day, Friday through Sunday.
I have done it hundreds of times.
A Genturi is required to get the exhaust above the units. - Sandia_ManExplorer IIYes, although it is rare that it has been on all throughout the night. Have no issues with running Onan as long as it is needed whether we are in the rig, away from the rig, eating, sleeping, or anything else we happen to be doing in the rig. How anyone else uses their rig or set-up is of no consequence to me.
- Mile_HighExplorerI haven't tried it yet, but I wouldn't hesitate.
