Slide or not to slide

I am a newbie and looking to purchase a unit in the next year. Retiring and looking to use for long cross country trips.

Wife and I have narrowed our choices down to a unit that we can drive and she can get up and move in. She has bad arthritis and needs to get up and move along with our I mean her three little kids I mean dogs. LOL

Thought about a Class A;driving one does not intimate me but concerned about accessibility in parks so right now focusing on a Class C.
Learning a lot from many posters here and appreciate all the info.

Got a question about buying a unit with or without a slide. Other than livability is there a technical or structural issue with buying a unit with a slide. I think having the extra space is worth the money. But having had a 2002 TT with a slide I am worried about the stress and structural issues associated with them.

Again many thanks for all the information I have gotten so far of this site and hope to talk specifics once I become more informed.

  • Slides, for the most part, are generally trouble free. And the additional livable room, in my opinion, is certainly worth the slight possibility of a problem.

As far as an A, if you typically stay in private RV parks there will almost always be plenty of room for even the largest A. If you prefer local, state, COE, and national parks or forest service parks, then it could be more of an issue.
