Slide Out Creaking

Do any of your slide outs creak excessively when you turn and when hitting bumps that may flex the side walls of your Class C? We have one slide in our 2011 E450 30` Chateau and it is very annoying as you drive. Tried all sorts of lubricants etc. with no luck. I did have a problem with the slide binding when new. The dealer had it several times trying to fix it. It extends and retracts fine. Thanks.
  • the service and operators manual will give the correct information. its not a good idea to rely on word of mouth info.
the manufacturer of the system will give you the correct info.
in the case of hwh, its ok to use dry lube on the slides if you want, because you own them.
hwh recommends wd 40 for the jacks. dry lube is not recommended. however as i said, you own them. use what you want.
  • One of mine creaks and groans going down the road. I'm going to try slide out locks soon.
  • I was told to get the dry lube spray for slides. It is not suppose to attract dust so bad and give it a liberal spray a couple of times a year. My slide and levelers are HWH and i was told to use the same dry lube on level jacks and slide.

The seals are suppose to be lubed with silicon spray also, caution let the spray dry then wipe it down with soft cloth before retracting or extending slide.

Seems to slide easer now. and makes less noise then before.
  • I wouldn't think it's your actual slides making noise, as they should be pretty tight unless something is wrong. Possibly your seals are making noise. Try lubricating the slide seals. That might make a difference.
