Sounds more like a bad contact vs shear pin. IF shear pin was broken it wouldn't move back out OK.
But only guessing cause don't know what type of slide out system you have.
Motor driven on both sides of slide out?
Cable driven?
Hydraulic driven?
Electric rack/drive gear driven?
Manual cranking really only works IF all mechanical mechanisms are intact and working......ie: motor quits
Pushing it in by hand should do no harm...provided it moves fairly easy by hand.
