Slide Will Not Extend

1996 Winnebago Adventurer 34'. Getting ready to pull out Monday and going thru for pretrip check. Slide will not extend, when you press to retract slide you can hear the pump. When you press to extend you can not hear the pump. Jacks are down, one sensor light is out but jack is down. Key turned on, parking brake is engage, any ideas.

Thanks
Terry
  • SOLUTION - I pulled the whole control box out and took the extend and retract switch apart and cleaned all the contacts with contact cleaner and an emery board. Put switch back together and guess what it all works again. By the way what is the going rate for RV service. I need to give somebody a bill. LOL

  • Check your house battery voltage pump needs 12 volts low water= low voltage. I just had the same problem when I.tried to set up in south jersey.I added distilled water and they charged up on shore power.
  • Since the slide seems to want to retract but not extend, I'm still favoring a bad switch. On my HWH system, it's a rocker switch - one way's in, one way's out. I had to replace the switch because the "extend" side was intermittent. Fortunately, it's an easy job once you find the right switch. Pull the old one and start at Radio Shack (hope you still have one).

  • There is a fuse box up front on the drivers side for HWH system. It's kind of hard to get to but this happened to me on a 96 Vectra. Replaced fuse and was on my way.
  • Take it out of park, if so equiped and then return to park with park brake set. Levelers down . Try slides then. If you check manual it should give you a manual slide proceedure. L
