Might not be the same on your rig but on my Monaco coach, there is an interlock and the slides will not operate with the engine running. The ignition switch must be in the off position for the slides to operate.
There is an anti theft on this we had to find that before we could start it. If the stairs are not retracted perfectly it will not start. Love all these safety features, but there should be a manual on just them. My husband tells me to relax we will be good owners with a bit of hands on knowledege from all this, I am not at the stage of all will we wonderful yet. We have tried ignition on, ignition off, all options of ignition.
