Wow. I'd like to see what the mechanicals look like in that failure. You say "it jumped the bottom track", and I can't really picture what you mean. It looks almost like what happened is the gear at the bottom end of the shaft broke ( or the shaft broke ), resulting in the top continuing to extend, while the bottom did not.
What was the fix in this case ?
This was my brothers. The bottom drive gears jumped cogs in the track so it did not extend as far as the top. I think this was failure #4. The fix was removing and replacing all seals all tracks and motors. Basically everything except the controller. By this time it was out of warranty but he had experienced so many issues that Schwintek provided all the parts but he had to eat the labor that was over $700. He has used it twice since and says it works better than it ever has. I hope for him they have finally solved his problems.
He was forced to tow it home (3 hours away) with the top of the slide partially sticking out.
This is not a typical Schwintek failure, they usually get out of sync right to left side or vice versa, not top to bottom. - gmw_photosExplorer

JMO, but it's not a matter of IF a slide mechanism is going to fail but WHEN. Yeah, yeah, I know - lots of you say you've never had a slide issue but I've likewise talked to plenty of unhappy owners who have had slide problems. Our current trailer is the first one we've ever owned with a slide and although it's been fine for 3 yrs I always have that thought in my head that says "Is this going to be the time I push the slide button and nothing happens?" Can't say I want to find out. :W
The same can be said about every time you turn the ignition key of your truck. - camperforlifeExplorerThis is what a Schwintek looks like when it jumps the bottom track.

I on the other hand am an optimist! If ever my slide doesn't work I am going to be shocked and dismayed! I will call the repair man and say in all sincerity, "I can't believe it's not working! I've used it thousands of times and it has always worked perfectly!!" Meanwhile, I am not going to give it a moments thought.... :B - SoundGuyExplorerJMO, but it's not a matter of IF a slide mechanism is going to fail but WHEN. - GrandpaKipExplorer IIOur slide has the BAL cable system. The mechanic at the dealership said it is the best he has seen and it looks to be easily adjustable if needed.

Stay away from schwintech!!!!!!!! ,
It is not if the fail, it is when!!!
Find thats only true with rather heavy and lengthy schwintech slides. I have not heard of anyone with a short light bedroom schwintech slide having trouble. Have heard just as many problems with most any other more conventional brand, especially hydraulics. But I do agree with long living room slides. The schwintechs seem to have a high failure rate there.
I've had numerous problems with my main super slide, but also had a motor short out in the front bedroom, which is a smaller slide unit and is also fully supported by the floor (bed is integrated with slide room, and glides on floor sliders).
One of my rear bedroom slide-outs is starting to make some creaking and groaning now.
Luckily the factory has been great about picking up my trailer, transporting to the factory, and rebuilding the Schwintek system. Twice. I cringe thinking about owners who don't have the same factory support as Outdoors RV. - coolbreeze01ExplorerSorry for the confusion.
Wondering which styles and brands have a good rep, are most reliable. - mileshuffExplorer
