Wow. I'd like to see what the mechanicals look like in that failure. You say "it jumped the bottom track", and I can't really picture what you mean. It looks almost like what happened is the gear at the bottom end of the shaft broke ( or the shaft broke ), resulting in the top continuing to extend, while the bottom did not.
What was the fix in this case ?
