Yup, proper use of the service brakes:
If going too fast (i.e. speeding up) and/or near the RPM limit of the engine, down arrow to the next lower gear (unless the pre-select gear for exhaust brake is lower than the one you are in and therefore this will happen automatically), firmly apply brake pedal until speed lowers to a point that the Allison downshifts to the next lower gear.
This has NOTHING to do with curves and speed on curves. The road could be dead straight for 10 miles, and on an 8-9% grade, you could be in 2nd or 3rd gear at 20-30 MPH. Again, the proper speed is one where the engine brake/transmission gear hold your speed in check.
