Smoky Moutains Campgrounds

Thinking about going to the Smoky Mountains in the spring. Any recommendations for a nice campgrounds to stay at. Would like a nice view.... thanks
  • We have always stayed in Townsend at the quiet entrance to the park near Cades Cove.
There is a KOA and Tremont campground just outside the entrance to the park. Both are on the river and nice. A riverfront lot in Tremont is our preference. You can tube on the river from your campsite.
  • The campgrounds WITHIN Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg have NO views, or definitely limited. If you want to get a good one, you will need to stay in one of the NP campgrounds, which abound in the area, but are also limited in facilities.

There are other campgrounds located within the GSMNP or adjacent on the NC side of the park. You might want to check those out.
