There is a campground in York Beach Maine where the owners (now deceased) were relentless on "campers". When campers with slides came out they did not let them in the campground. then they decided that you could have one but you needed to pay more for your seasonal site. They said it was because your camper took up more room.
The sites were really small so it seems like a legitimate reason EXCEPT that when you paid the additional fee you did not get a bigger site, you simply encroached upon your neighbors tiny site. The neighbor did not get a discount due to your slide taking up part of his site. The extra fee went right into the owners pocket.
The owner of that park was always in your business. If you wanted a deck it had to be built by his handy man. That way he got a cut of the cost. You could not even supply the material yourself. You were allowed 2 cars per site BUT the sites were not big enough for a second car. If you had one and needed to park in overflow......there was a fee for that. There was a Laundromat with parking but if you parked there he would have you towed. No bicycles were allowed except for his grandchildren. Then when they rode through your site and scratched your car he would just wave it off. If your camper was more than 10 eyars old you could not bring it in. Yet the owner would regularly buy campers that were older than 10 years old and then sell them to people that wanted to camp there. In other words it was OK for that old camper to be there as long as he sold it. If you tried to sell it to someone that wanted to camp there he would reject it. The list goes on and one.
We loved the location so we tried it for a few seasons but could not continue.
