Solar Panels - worth it?

We are looking at a Roadtrek that has solar panels. We have never used them and don't know how they work. For those of you who have them, do you find them useful? Would you buy them again or would you go without them? Have you had to replace them because of damage? Thanks!

    Having SOME solar is definitely worth it . The reason is that (assuming you park outside), it will keep your house batteries charged and healthy between uses of the rig. This will make them last much longer than they would if you let them sit and go dead while in storage. Plus, of course, the van is always ready to go.

    Whether any practical amount of solar capacity makes much of a difference while you are camping is more debatable.
