Spare Parts To Carry

Just when does it end? From past experience I carry a generator board, HWH pump, HWH misc. parts, spare tire, starter, AC unit caps, Lord knows how many tools I probably don't need, etc. I carry so many parts that I had to make a list of them and keep it in the parts bin as I just can't recall how many parts I have. When does it end? Today the topic I just read was water pumps. Do I need to carry a spare water pump as I don't want to be without water? Some places I camp are far from decent supply places.
  • I have a tool box with sockets, wrenches and screwdriver of different sizes. One item that really comes in handy is a basic multi-meter so you can check voltage etc. :)
  • I carry a serpentine belt, radiator hoses, a coach water pump, a spare GFI outlet, circuit breaker, chassis fuses, and an unmounted spare tire.
The serpentine belt takes me 15 minutes to change on the side of the interstate and everything but the spare tire and radiator hoses can be changed in less time then that.
  • The reason to carry spare parts is as follows.
The parts you carry spares for a therefore guaranteed never to fail.
    One of Murphy's laws
  • I had to clean my garage this spring.
8 oil filters for vehicles I no longer own.
5 serpentine belts for vehicles I no longer own.
Set of Bosch platinum spark plugs. How da heck they got here as for last 15 years I drive diesels???
I have 2 spare CPS for one car we still own and 4 CPS for vehicle we no longer have.
Anyone needs CPS for Ford 7.3?
    Ask me about voltage regulators.
  • When you Full Time you soon realize that you just can NOT plan for all situations and therefore carrying spare parts is futile.

Deal with situations as they occur.

Cash, debit, credit -----size/cost of issue dictates which is used.
  • Where do you camp that FedEx can't get to you?

I used to carry spare bulbs, but now they're all LED. I do have a spare tire.

I suppose the toad and bike can count as two spare vehicles. :-)
  • yeas ago I read a column in one of the RV magazines of a women who wrote of her husband who would go visiting the neighbors and come back to tell her, " guess what he has?" and then go out and buy one. He had a guy who rode with him, his name was "Justin Case". some times I think it was my wife who wrote the article.

Spare parts and tools for some, consist of a cell phone and credit card.

I carry basic parts and tools, including duct tape.

Yup, if it won't move spray it with WD40 and if it does move use duct tape.
  • If your a survivalist, or just really enjoy RVing in the back country I guess the list of spare parts is almost unending. Serpentine belt, generator parts, water supply parts, hydraulics for the slides and jacks; and these are just a few of the vital units, forgetting the superfluous like sound and entertainment, oven, lighting. As for me, I too have accumulated many spare parts which I have lost track of, so my major accessory is my Credit Card and Cell Phone. I don't leave home without them.
