Spark Knob on stove

Hopefully it was glass tape and they do sell lengths of glass sheathing material that can be slid over any wiring that might be subjected to extreme heat.

There you go and my thoughts on it, as well. Tighten up the push on connectors in the process with a pair of needle nose pliers or other.

You need to test if the clicker is actually working. Just press your finger where the wire is attached and turn the knob. If that works, the hold the wire in your hand and test again. You will probably find that the wire is the problem. a length of shrink wrap tubing will fix the problem.

Simple fix! I wrapped the cracks (I found 3 of them) with electrical tape, and it's been working fine ever since! 2 more years since then, and never a miss-fire again!

Check the actual wires from the knob to the burner. Make sure they have no cracks in the plastic cover! That is most likely your problem, especially since one burner works and another one does not.

Yeah, this is a known problem. For some reason the ignition wire insulation cracks often and easily. I don't know if it's from the heat or just cruddy cheap wires. You can go to an electrical supply house and pick up a few feet of high temp insulated wire or use tape. I've also had good luck with the liquid tape you brush on for a temporary fix. Another solution is a length of wire shrink wrap.

Ron, Please accept this as my way of helping, get you stove manual out and check the adjustment of the sparkers and check the wires for tightness. If you don't have the manual, try Chris Bryant's list of manuals or Google it.

The Gap is normally 1/8" and directly over a port in the burner head. They're really simple to trouble shoot.
