John, the Allison MD3060 has three possible ways to operate a speedo;
1 - an output speed signal from the transmission ECU,
2 - a screw in speedo sender fitted into the rear transmission housing,
3 - a toothed wheel fitted to the rear flange and a speedo sender fitted to a bracket.
Option 1 is available from all Allison transmission ECU's.
Options 2 and 3 are fitted by the OEM if they don't want to use the ECU output.
How many speed sensors are fitted to the rear of your transmission?
The plastic one on the rear rhs is for the ECU. It has a single bolt with a 13mm head holding it in. It is fitted to all MD's and is not adjustable. You would have shift problems and the transmission fault light on if this was faulty.
The screw in speedo sender is on the lhs. Depending on the type it may be adjustable.
