Stacking Washer and Dryer

We are having a stacking washer and dryer set put into our 2013 Newmar Canyon star. Can anyone tell me if you have had any issues with running both at the same time? Does the draw on the power cause the breaker to trip? Looking for input on what I can expect and any information you can share on the subject. What Brands are you using and any one brand to stay away from?
  • The Splendide stackable washer is rated at 4A and the dryer is rated at 12A. Winnebago dedicates a 20A circuit for a washer/dryer.

Check the specs for your stackable and Newmar MH - they should be similar.

We have the Whirlpool washer and dryer with the stack kit on a 50 amp service we run both at the same time if on 30 we can run both at the same time but then to run something else may cause the main breaker (pedestal) to trip, Prior to the separate washer and dryer we had the all in one Splendid and the separate washer and dryer works best.

  • I have the Splendide Ariston model stacked units in my coach. I have always run both the wsaher and dryer at the same time without issue. My dryer will dry a full load of wash in 60 minutes no problem. I think the 1200 RPM spin speed of the washer contributes to less trying time.
  • Haven't used ours on 30 amp yet but, they are great on 50 amp. Remember, if you don't have hookups, the water must drain into the gray tank. Some folks like to run a load while traveling to new destinations. If we do a load every other day it only takes an hour or so for wash and another hour or so for dry depending on the material etc. Don't have to wait by the machines like a laundromat. DW sort of overloaded the washer a couple of times and clothes didn't spin adequately. Was simple to put through on another spin cycle. Probably want to avoid overloading for other reasons though.
  • The washer doesn't pull all that much power so both are fine to use at once.
  • Only problem we have is that power and water are hard to access. I am in the process of moving the water valves and power plug for easier access. We do have to winterize and access is a pain.
  • Our stacked washer and dryer are made by whirlpool. Use them just like at home on 50 amps
  • What Trap said x2.

We do find that dryer takes longer when on 30 amp.

Be careful would include, don't run Microwave or AC when on 30 amp while running the dryer.
  • Our coach came with the Splendid Washer and Dryer, and yes we can run both at the same time. You may have to be a little careful if only on 30amp power, but otherwise you should be good to go as long as the plugins are on separate circuits.
