You should not need to move, but you do need to have the converter turned on and the TV setup properly. If (big IF) the wiring is setup correctly you will just need to have the converter turned on and then do a channel scan on your TV. The TV will find your converter on channel 3 or 4 and you will then have full access to the converter. You do a new channel scan in the converter software and all channels found will be displayed on channel 3 or 4.
It's a PIA when the option is removing that POS TV and installing a modern flat screen digital TV making all of these issues go away.
