Still looking

I have looked at all the internet has to offer (?), read a ton and now it is time to start looking and kicking tires. Leaving a TT and going with a class A. Has anyone had any dealings with PPL in Houston? Are high volume lots a good place to start? Any recommendations in the southern U.S.
Thanks, Cork
  • A consignment seller of motorhomes. I would also look at Motorhomes of Texas in Nacogdoches. They pretty much only sell motorhomes and they consign and buy them too. They are where you can find older Newell's and Foretravels and newer ones as well as other brands. They had country coach,Monaco and coach house there as well as a few others last time I was in there.
  • Agree, first class operations.

Be aware that they are predominantly a consignment lot, so condition will vary considerably.

Be sure to get an independent mechanical inspection on anything you are considering.

Their website also has an excellent section on SOLD units-- so you can get a feeling for what particular coaches actually sold for.
  • PPL Houston (and I assume New Braunfels) is a first class operation.
We purchased our first MH (and only, so far) from them 4 years ago. It's a great place to start. No sales pressure at all. You check in, get a listing of what's available and their pricing and then you're free to look at anything and everything on the property. If you have questions or need help - they're right there in the office and readily available.
After numerous trips to PPL we found the coach we liked and had the PPL rep act as the go-between with the owner. With an agreed price in hand, the PPL rep assisted us in setting up an independent inspection (on-site since we couldn't remove the coach for that purpose). Everything checked out and we were ready to go ... but then the rep called and said he didn't think the fridge was working correctly. They took the time to check it out over the next few days (at no cost to us) and determined that it needed to be replaced. Again, PPL worked with the owner, and a new unit was installed in short order.
Paperwork, a final walkthrough and off we went. A very plesant experience all around. We felt that PPL took care of us (newbies) and helped make sure our first experience was a good one.
  • We bought our first Diesel Pusher from PPL years ago. They're easy to deal with and will negotiate with the seller for you. Our experience was positive. Also, their website is second to none on research. They provide floorplans and real time sales. You'll have to search their site for the sales figures but they are there....also look for resales in Mesa/Apache Junction, Arizona. Lots of foreclosures go there. Lastly, log on to CrankyApe.com for more bargains...remember though, PPL is by far your best research site....Dennis
