Still Waiting

Welcome to warranty items.

Nothing new. Ours has been in over two weeks already waiting for " approvals" and parts. Had that with about every RV we've owned. I haven't learned to take it in way ahead of camping season.

Hoping that everyone understands that no disrespect is meant, why are comments like "welcome to warranty" or "me, too" or "happens all the time" allowed to be the correct answer. RVers need to hold their dealers and/or manufacturers feet to the fire and insist they resolve the issue in a timely manner. If they cannot then they should be initiating legal action to get it done. I know 1 RVer who bought a brand new CC (when they were still in business) and refused to leave the parking lot until they got all the issues resolved. He sat there for over 6 months. There is no excuse that could ever justify the actions of this manufacturer.
I bought a used coach from a company and it was sold as-is. However, I spent a night in their campground, found a number of issues and they fixed everyone of them over the course of the next week before I headed out for home. Everyone should expect the same level of service or should be fighting like HE double hockey sticks to get a reasonable level of service.

Bill.Satellite, You hit a pet peeve of mine. It seems as though this kind of treatment has become the standard modus-operandi and as such should be accepted by the consumer. Baloney, I say. I agree with you 100%, Bill.

Ditto to the Bill.Satelite and CG Dawson. I'm new to looking at something other than a pop-up so I'm still processing that all (or most?) dealers are simply affilitated with a manufacturer rather than a dealer. I recently had an alternator in my F-150 replaced at a MA dealer that was warranty work from an alternator installed in CA last year. The dealer here was great at every aspect and not only handled the repair quickly, but gave me their preferred customer discount for the oil change I had done at the same time as the warranty work. I've already referred others to that dealership and if I wasn't moving would purchase my next vehicle from them.

I'm only going from comments here, but why can RV dealerships not get this aspect of customer service? Customer service is the right thing to do but it's also best business practices to build and maintain a customer base?

I left mine for three weeks for some minor repairs. I finally yanked it out and did the repairs myself. Horrid service at my dealership. The initials are LD in Tucson Arizona.

IMHO it's because the dealers first obligation is to sell these things. If a customer is expecting a delivery tomorrow, the guy or gal ( us) will be pushed back even if you have an appointment. If there are just one or two minor repairs needed you can request to wait an could likely get your repair if all the parts are available - if you have the time to wait.

Most of us don't, and walk in with a list of things, with a appointment expecting to leave it and "hope" you get it back in a reasonable time ( back to my comment about getting pushed back). So the next step is things needing warranty work needs approval by the manufacture or the extended service contract provider. The dealer could wait days for that response (dealers fault .. No). Then the parts can be ordered. Trust me I've been through this numerous times where there isn't stock available ( waited months in the past). Is that the manufactures fault ... No. As they purchase most of their products from various vendors. Once they arrive your unit then gets squeezed in front of someone else waiting, thinking the stars are all lined up all the time.

Manufactures don't always keep tons of inventory anymore. The just in time delivery method is the norm. And dealers certainly aren't going to overload their stock levels on everything we could possibly need for repairs.

That's why we wait

It shouldn't be .... but I think part of the problem is leaving it.

We full-timed for 16 years. We stated that was our home and stayed with our motorhome until it was serviced. Sometimes we spent the night on their property but were never inconvenienced beyond that. If we knew we needed certain parts we had them order them and then we set up the appointment. We could always find something to see and do in the meantime.

Sorry you're waiting and not out there having fun - like it should be.

dealers DON,T CARE they have so much business they don,t have to care ,and thats the bottom line. there is no answer a rv should sit for weeks,months waiting on a $5. part. dealers don,t care .if you don,t come back theres still a line of others.
