Yellow flame is usually an indication of air inclusions. Generally cured by burner cleaning and adjustment. Wherever the burner air intake is located should be cleaned also, not just the burner ports. If you are doing this yourself be careful not to damage the opening in the orfice. Increasing the orfice size even a tiny bit will screw up the flame badly.
A regulator test can be done easily by an LP gas tech (or a good RV tech) with his manometer or pressure gauge. Tests should be done at the regulator test port if it has one and at the stove top test port. If the pressure in both a static condition and flowing is below acceptable standards, usually 11-13 inches of water column static and above 10 inches during full flow conditions the regulator is considered good. Anything less would indicate a regulator replacement.
