While traveling the southern part of the blue ridge parkway we stopped at one of the many scenic pull outs to enjoy a high Vista. Walked up to the retaining wall and saw a rock pinnacle rising from the hill where it fell away from the retaining wall. It was probably 50 feet tall but due to the steep hill on which it Sat the top of the pinnacle was just about eye level and maybe 25 or 30 feet away from the wall. The top was only a couple of feet across. The strange part was that on top of the pinnacle was a kind of shrine looking thing. Checking it out with greater detail we found it was a glass candle about 10" tall, it was lit and appeared to be about half burned down. Arranged around the bottom of the candle there were 7 hot dogs arranged in a spoke pattern. The only way it could have been placed there was by climbing the needle shaped spire. The BIG Question was...why, closely followed by...who followed by how. never got an answer to any of those questions.
