There's a place in Canada we go fishing. The last 27 miles is a logging road, but there are a few MH's that make the trek in. One afternoon, an older MH came in followed by a flatbed auto retriever with a boat and trailer on it. The trailer had suffered a wheel bearing problem. The young truck driver had his very pregnant girlfriend with him (they thought the rough road might speed up her delivery)!!
The tow truck driver said he would just unload the boat directly from the trailer while the trailer was still on his truck. The people in camp gathered around.
The picture below is my rig on the launch site to give you some idea of the steepness.
The driver tilted the truck bed (it got pretty steep) and released the winch. He lost grip of the winch and it free spooled out. The back of the boat and attached outboard motor hit the water at a steep enough angle that it just dived under water. The driver tried to catch the spinning winch handle and broke his wrist!!!.
He was able to drive away, and a bunch of us helped pull the mostly submerged boat out of the water. Fortunately, the outboard motor cover kept most of the water out of the engine, and it started up soon after a little drying.
