- Dance_ChickExplorerWestgate River Ranch outside of Lake Wales on Hwy 60. Pony rides for their ages, putt-putt, fishing pond, pools-don't know if heated- playground, petting farm. There's a rodeo, but they're too young to warrant spending the money on that. They're probably free, but the adults would have to pay ($17.00). It's a mixture of snowbirds and families. We take our 5 yr. old grandson to RR.

- psmooreExplorerWe stayed at Fort Wilderness a couple years ago, and the only complaint I can come up with is it seemed to take forever to get to the parks. Had to bus to the water, wait for a ferry, ferry over. All in all it seemed to take 30min to an hour just to get to the park. We kind of decided to stay at one of the hotels next time.
LOVED Ft Wilderness for camping though. - KidooExplorer

Looking for camping with young kids during the Christmas holiday in center / south Florida.
Would like a place with playground, heated pool, water slide. Looking for nice weather, sun, fun, warm temp...:C
Everglades miami looks good, close to many attractions. - tatestExplorer IIMost of the RV parks around Orlando and Kissimmee are targeted toward family vacations. You don't get so much into snowbird and exclusively senior parks until south of Tampa. So focus your search on Orlando-Kississimmee and hope you can still get a booking somewhere.
Public campgrounds won't be snowbird oriented, as city, county and state parks don't usually allow long stays. But most of these park campgrounds will not have the toddler recreational facilities you seek. Weeki Wachi Springs does, but does not have a campground, you would have to find a RV park in the Spring Hill area, which is at the northern fringe of the retiree encampments. - wallynmExplorerTry this one

X-2 We stayed there the last time we did Disney and the Kissimee area. Found it a good alternative to the Fort Wilderness camping experience and it allowed us easier access to things other than Disney. - KidooExplorerThanks for your info on Disney but we do not plan to go to Disney this year, kids will be 2 and 4 years old, we will wait for them to get older. On top, our Canadian Dollar is way down, $107 + tax comes up to around $143 canadian a day.
We just want a campground where kids can enjoy the stay, main reason I ask is that many CG in Florida are geared towards Snowbirds.
We go to Manatee spring CG first where they have some wildlife and a spring to swim. - bluebarry1964bExplorerIf you absolutely can't get a spot to camp right at Disney, there's always the "next-to-best" plan of getting a camping spot at least in the Orlando area somewhere within driving distance of Disney, then driving to Disney where your kids can still experience the fun. The key will be getting a camping spot close enough so mom & dad aren't exhausted from the commute to and from Disney. It's certainly not as good as camping right at Disney, but once you're in Disney for the day the experience is still great for the kids. I would think that with the prices for camping, hotels, etc, in Disney itself that many people opt for staying nearby rather than right in the park.
