- bobojay5ExplorerI installed one of these PI HW-30C when we first got our new ERA.
Always had the hang on the pole kind before which was always kind of a pain to deal with. Also having the 1 or 2 extra plug in connections during a rain event made me a bit nervous about a short.
I believe they have saved us twice in the past from issues after an electrical storm. Once especially at a corps park in Kansas when lightning struck the ground 2 parking spaces over from us in the middle of the night. May not have effected us at all, but whose to say??? - wincrasher65ExplorerA smart thief would steal you power cable. The last one I bought was $300.
- DavyddExplorerNever had one but will be getting one built inside my next B. In looking on posts at many campgrounds I would guess less than 10% of Bs have them. Some people protect themselves with a simple inexpensive tester before plugging in mainly to check for polarity. I have to say I am remiss in that too.
In parking in a campground I have come and gone leaving my cable attached to the pole so far with no dire results. I don't think I would have that much of a gambling cavalier trusting attitude with a $300 surge protector attached. In that regard I am glad I am getting one built in. - bobojay5Explorer

Not an absolute must, but very high on the list of must haves - wincrasher65ExplorerI use one of those Progessive units all the time and am very happy with it.
That is a good price! I paid about $50 more for it on Amazon. - gerrym51Explorer II

you should buy a surge protector-protects your rv from both high and low power surges-money well spent.
i won't suggest brand there are 2-3 good ones if your search posts and internet - RayUSMCExplorerSoooo .. is this something we should get for our rv?
- jjson775ExplorerI opted for the Progressive as well. Big $$ but our new Pursuit B+ has lots more wiring and electrical stuff than our old Excel so I wanted peace of mind.
