Survived my first, and last, I hope, Tornado

Dennis and Debi, thankfully you are both OK. That must have been the scariest thing ever. One of my biggest fears is being caught in a storm. You were certainly a savior for the people in the turned over coach. WOW!

You both are so lucky.

Must have been real scary for you and especially for the others who were not so lucky.

We got hit in Branson and lost an awning and both roof vents. Thought we were going to get blown over. Blew down a gas station under construction next to the campground.

Glad you came out of it alive.....It sure is scary and the noise is unreal.

Give me a good old earthquake any day.

Glad you are okay. Only been near a couple of tornadoes, while at home. Never on the road.
Year before last there were several right around us. one branch went down the road and took down a lot of trees and damaged homes. One went by our house about 80 ft away. It was just a wall of white. Missed our house and hopped the well house and swerved and uprooted a giat walnut tree and took some tops of trees behind us and our neighbor to the north of us.
It puzzled me about how it went but I thank God it missed us.

Dennis, I do have a question... why didn't you pull in the slides? Or maybe you did?

Again, you are lucky, toppers are not that expensive to replace (insurance will cover I'm sure).

Mark, from the time I saw it until it was there was maybe 10-15 SECONDS!...we are right on the Gulf and it came up pretty quickly. Fortunately, I had pulled in the window awnings just moments before.

There was a short break afterwards that allowed us to load the injured but the sky once again darkened so we all scampered back to our coaches and I did pull in the slides for the next round but all we got was lots of wind and rain...that, I can handle...:B...Dennis


As you can see, there's nothing in this picture that would warn of impending disaster. We've seen more threatening storms in the past...D

They say Mother Nature is unforgiving...she treated us to this tonight..I say she was apologizing for causing me to overfill my black tank...:B.....Dennis

We lost the awning in the same manner because that thing just came up out of nowhere and we couldn't get the awning down due to the high winds billowing it out.

Had to go inside fast and it was all I could do to close the door.

Always pull you slides in, always. Why didn't you leave and go to a local mall or solid structure somewhere. Not a good idea to stay in your RV. Glad you are ok but you need a better plan.

Mustang Island? Been there with strong in line wind but never a twister. Luckily the trees are sparse. Debris can really mess up what the wind leaves alone
