Technically, I think you are wrong. I've got a car that is factory filled with Mobil 1 also, BUT the manual provides a spec that several other synthetic oils meet. Mobil has just cut an advertising deal with some manufacturers that gets their oil in as factory fill and even the Mobil 1 logo on the oil fill caps sometimes.
Think Lobstah is talking about the synthetic requirement. Just take a look at the VW/Audi 505, 506, and 507 requirements. Same with Mercedes BlueTec requirements. All call for very specific synthetic oil lubes. And in the case of the VW PD engines, many dealers found out the hard way that they had to follow VW's oil requirements like it or not.
