Tag axle

I recently bought a Fleetwood Bounder 34V with a tag axle is this a good coach and are there benefits to the tag axle or just extra tires to buy. The coach is in emaculate condition also I'm new to the class A family what cruising speed do you recommend for highway driving for fuel mileage I'm currently running between 60-65 MPH
  • Larry, Tell us if your coach is on a Ford F53 chassis (460 or V10) or a Chevy P32 chassis (454). Both have their + & -. Then we can offer more.

  • Can't comment on the quality of a Bounder.

The Tag axle increases your weight carrying ability by spreading the rear weight across 2 axles.

Every coach has a sweet spot speed where it just "seems happy". Mine is around 64 MPH. The DW's sweet spot is 63.
  • Hello & welcome! A tag is there because one axle is not enough to safely carry the load. I also like 60-65 for driving.
