Happened to me.. I have a special plug/socket with LED's turns out the RV was not feeding power to the towed tail light circuit.
Since my choice of brakes DID tie the RV's battery to the towed I hit the parking light switch and had it fixed 2.000 miles later (Broken wire they said).
Step one is to test at the socket on the RV.. if it is a flat four use a test light, not a meter One pin is exposed, that one gets the clip on the test light,, The pin next to it is insulated, that gets the Probe.
