Hi,I have level gauges on my RV (like everyone I assume) but they are currently misreading the correct levels.Does anyone know how to clean the sensors? I have tried flushing my waste tanks.How hard is it to replace the sensors?

Hi,The only one that may work reliably is the fresh water one. If it is not reading correctly then cleaning is not likely the issue.

There are scores of monitor systems. Some use a probe INSIDE the tank. Some use glued on sensors on the outside of the tanks. BOTH can malfunction, but you need to know what type too see is flushing is the answer. We fill and flush a minimum of 3 times and then leave the valves open with the dump cap OFF to let the tanks dry out. Let the tanks dry for 48 hours and then see what the readings are. Doug

Waste of effort. They are notrious for not working

I use RV Digest! 6 capfuls, then fill up your tank, let it sit 24 hours then flush! The principle behind RV Digest is the enzymes eat all the bacteria inside your tank, which also means it cleans your sensors. I've used it several times it works. My coach came with a built in oscillator inside the black tank so I rarely have those troubles. Good Luck

X2, one of the best mods I have done. Works 100% of the time but then it was designed and is manufactured in Alberta, Canada

All of my tanks are visible somewhere.

After calibrating my fresh water tank (knowing how much my supply hose would provide in a minute) and marking the side of said tank with a sharpie, I was able to calibrate the gray in a similar manner (5 gallon loss in the fresh = 5 gal in gray with shower running.)

I did re label the electronic gauge to show the correct quantities (mine work most of the time), but if in doubt, a quick check of the appropriate compartment is easy.

The black tank, well it's easy. Just a long flush with a flashlight in hand will give you a good clue about remaining capacity. It's never a problem as Fleetwood went 50/50 on the gray/black on mine. Wish it was 70/30.

Calgon and let it stand for a few hours filled with water. Flush thoroughly. Repeat when it goes south again.

Fill it to half full of water and black water. 3 table spoons of ridix and 5 to 10 pounds of ice cubes and then drive 50 to 75 miles.

There are millions of RV's that have level indicators that don't work correctly. It is a waste of time to pursue IMO.

Know your tank capacities, educate your family on them, and the indications ( burping ) of a near full tank.

x2. I just gave up on the sensors. I know how much and how many days I can go. I know because when I parked in a boondock like situation, I actually "measured" how much was in my tanks after several days using a 5 gallon bucket. After a couple of weeks I know how much water we use and know that the DW and I can go 4 to 5 days without worrying about the gray tank and 7 on the waste tank.
