One time he allowed me to ride in the cab with him and actually let me 'drive" the loco. down thru the spiral tunnels - downhill pretty much needed only judicious use of the air brakes - but what a thrill for a pre-teenager!!
Up in Western Canada they did almost the same thing, only there they did it inside of mountain.........
