television...help!

Bought a new 2017 Thor Freedom Elite a few days ago. Since, I've been trying to get the televisions to work to no avail. The tv set up prompts lead me to a prompt to scan for stations. I'm on antenna due to no cable at my house. The rv runs thru about 100 channels then reports "no stations found". On my previous rv (05 Itasca), there was a box that you had to use to select cable, antenna or satellite. This new rv does not have (that I can find) such a box for selecting the type reception needed. I bought it at CW and if I can't figure it out (hopefully) with your help...it'll go back to CW tomorrow. Thanks!

No antenna booster button. Input was correctly used on set up. Had Antenna selected.

    This is your problem.

You HAVE an Antenna Booster button.

You just have to find it. Follow the TV coax to where it is connected. Doug

Mine is located INSIDE one of the cabinets above the couch!

Take a flashlight with you so you can see either a button or switch to turn on the booster. THEN a small red light should appear when it is turned on.

Booster not on = no TV channels.

  • Just a thought? Are there 2 connection spots for the coax wire? One for antenna and the other for satellite? If so, try switching the wire that runs from the back of the television to the other wall jack. It's possible you are plugged into the satellite connection. (Just a thought).

Here is a pictorial showing how to use the Antenna WALL PLATE box...

Also be sure you have selected ANTENNA on your HDTV scan setup... Also if the antenna is the BATWING style you have to have it pointed at the HDTV digital transmitter antenna location...

The BATWING antenna i have looks like this - NOTE the dipoles on the front...

If your winegard is one of those omni small round antennas have heard they are not very good except for real close HDTV stations...

Looks like this and is mounted real close to the roof...

Let us all know how you are coming along...

I use my BATWING antenna up a short pole on the side of my POPUP trailer and it picks up very well in my OFF-GRID locations...

  • Most air reception involve use of a box that turns on the ant booster, typically a green light on the front shows it's operating. Look for it probably on a pass side bin above the dash. Without it you won't be getting much.
Also the TV itself requires you to menu select air or cable. Select air and then run your scan for channels.
