- wa8yxmExplorer IIII have upgraded from Two TV's to 3, One from Wal-Mart (Black Friday special) one Wal Mart "Floor Sample Special" Story. This one was missing a remote so I got a real good price.. turns out I already had the OEM remote in stock here in the MH
one from a pawn shop.. (The big tv) cause I really do not like Wal*mart.
Had to spend 10 bucks to get an OEM remote for it.. but till that arrived the one for the Black Friday Wal-mart..... Yup, it worked.
one of the TV's doubles as a computer monitor (actually all 3 can but only one dies) one is wired for Chrome Casting.. Two have USB drives (not sure if the 3rd can support one or not but it has USB ports and ie's easier to cast)
The major issue is the aspect ratio .. Modern TV's are wider than older ones.
So for the MAIN Tv. I carefully measured the width and got a TV the exact, and I( mean EXACT same width.. I then "Shortened" the head banger box so it looks Factory.. but is not Long term I'm utting in shelves behidn the thing for Video and audio disc storage. - Bill_SatelliteExplorer III would suggest that Wal-Mart is likely the worst source for an RV TV upgrade. They have the older fatter TV's and many of them are not even LED/LCD TV's. Don't buy anything that in not LED/LCD. Sam's Club has a good selection as does Best Buy and a few of the other "big box" retailers. You just have to look and look and look until you find that one that fits your needs. We started by removing a 20" CRT and fitting a TV in the existing opening (after shaving off 1/2"). That was fun but down the road we needed more. We bought something a bit larger which covered more area but required a new mounting option. We have now been able to move to a 32" (small by today's standards) without having to make any major modifications other than the mounting system. We recently (this week) added a soundbar to the TV system and it's awesome. In many cases, adding this kind of a device can fill the space left when you installed a rectangular TV in a square hole.
- TCmartExplorerSwapped out both tv's with Vizio brand.
32" in front and 26" in bedroom.
Picked up a mount from Monoprice.com
Big improvement and picture is excellent. - TNGW1500SEExplorerYou will probably also need a mount. Look here:
Good prices on mounts - real4u2cExplorerI appreciate the help.

Cheap, usually good... Stick to brands.
If you want super well tested stuff Costco. - real4u2cExplorerThanks
- Bill_SatelliteExplorer III have had great luck with Visio TV's. As mentioned above you are not looking for an RV TV but rather a TV that will fit in your RV. Take a look at the space available and use that as a guide to the TV you want to install. The new TV's "rectangular" shape may require some modifications if you are replacing an older "square" CRT type TV. A new 20" LED/LCD TV will not fill the hold left by a 20" CRT TV so you may need to go bigger and that means you may need additional width and make some modifications to the way the TV is mounted.
- Iraqvet05ExplorerIf you are looking for brand specifics, I like Sony products. Had a Sharp and a Toshiba but they aren't quite up to par with Sony. If you use the TV to watch OTA channels, see if you can test how fast the channel changes and the channel info appears. I also like the Sony I have because I can turn off the picture, set the timer and just listen to the news as I fall asleep.

It also depends on how you want to listen to the audio on the TV. If you feed it through another amplifier, no problem. If not, and you plan to build it in to a cabinet, you will probably need a TV with the speakers in the front.
+1
I changed the outdoor TV a week ago and the original had speakers in the front. The new does not. We have to turn the volume up a lot.
I may return the TV and try again.
