The saddest day of the year

Unlike holidays that fall on specific dates, the Saddest Day of the year moves around. You will not find it on any calendar but will certainly feel it in your heart.

This year, the Saddest day of the Year falls on Saturday, November 23. It is the day we cover up the motorhome we lovingly call 'the pig'.

May you never have this day. Or perhaps you can move this day into December.

Happy camping to my southern friends.

  • Dakzuki, I am with you. We just got back from the Cowlitz river. Use ours year round. Plan to hit the coast next, any weather is great weather at the beach. May rain a lot in the pacific NW, but we can get out all year. Jerry.
  • Oh I know how sad that is. We're done for the year, mainly because DH is hunting every weekend til that first Sat. in Jan. We have our poor darling parked for awhile (hopefuly will take will take her out by the end of Jan.:)) with a heater keeping things toasty...we can still camp in the driveway though. I can hear her calling to us wanting to go somewhere, anywhere:(
  • We have two Saddest Days of the year: One when we pay the annual insurance premium on our RV and another when we pay the license registration for our RV.

The other 363 days of the year are pretty neat ... about the neatest being the day near the end of every year when we cash in on all the credit card points we've accumulated throughout the year from buying gas for the RV. ;)

In spite of our gloomy winters, we use the RV all year round. In the winter we go to the coast. If we time it right we can get a howling storm. There is nothing cozier than being curled up in the RV with a good book and a whiskey in the midst of a Pacific storm.
Broke out in a big grin when I read this....we,too,head to the coast in winter and some of our favorite memories are being tucked inside when a storm is raging outside.

  • Oh yeah, winterized for the first time EVER in Colorado instead of Arizona. (Hope I did it right!) We'll just have to plan enough camping the rest of the year to make up for winter. Or we might have to travel down to warmer places in winter!
  • I feel sorry for our northern neighbors. 70 degrees before 9 am. I'm pulling the TT around to load it up. Heading out for the long weekend.

    Ahhhhh.

    :M
  • Oh I feel for you.

I too used to have to pull the pin, winterize and park the 'Queen Mary' in the driveway......only to have to look at her covered with snow out my living room window for 6 loooong months until Spring! :(

That is until I decided to stop the insanity of it all and sold the house and went full time!
