I usually drive under the speed limit hanging around 60 mph most of the time. I'll run it up to 65 if the speed limit is 70-75 mph and it looks like I'm holding up traffic. Otherwise, 60 mph is good, comfortable and relaxing as I'm not usually in a hurry.
In California, I'm at 55 mph and actually like that speed.
Since I'm going a little on the slower side anyway, I will slow up for emergency vehicles dropping down to 55 mph if I'm not there already. BTW, I will pull over if I can even when I'm going the slower speed. If I can't pull over, I will flip-on the 4-ways (flashers) to let those behind me know that I'm slowing down and to alert them of an emergency is up ahead.
A Trooper that was standing near his car watching us, gave me a nod when I put on my 4-ways. I have the ultimate respect for LEO's as I have/had a family full of them. Sure, there are those few bad apples that make give the rest of the force a bad name.
My Bro-in-law worked for the division of the police dept. in conjunction with the FBI. His job was to catch 'bad cops' and he was busy. :E
