The "Spirit of '76" Build

This thread is to chronicle the build/rebuild of our 1976 Midas Class C. He is a GMC chassis with a 400 small block. I will be doing little more than maintenance at this point, but eventually will do a complete restoration. It will be slow going, but it is for my recollection more than anything, LOL.

Anyway, here's what I'm starting with:

  • Ahhh, This brings back memories. Our first Class C was a 1976 Midas like yours except it was on a Ford. Bought it new in October 1976 and kept it 21 years. Traveled to 47 States, somehow missing Michigan. Somewhere along the way, I replaced the fridge. In 1984 coming back from the World's Fair in New Orleans I developed valve problems and had new heads installed. I think the change from leaded to unleaded gas causes the valve failure.

    Enjoy.
  • It looks like a solid unit for restoration.
