Thetford Toilet Repair U-Cup Seal - Which Way?

Replacing the waste ball in our Thetford toilet. Directions say to put U-cup seal on waste ball and install. But which side is the open side of the U-cup seal supposed to face? Is the open U-cup si...

Per Thetford

1. Install U-Cup Seal onto key tab side of new Waste Ball. (Tapered side of U-
Cup Seal faces out.)
2. Squeeze ends of new Waste Ball together and install into Base, seating the
Waste Ball in the closed position.
Note: U-Cup Seal should point toward Pedal side.


That is about as clear as MUD....but I don't have toilet in front of me nor did I take it about.
