Thinking about a diesel pusher

We're thinking of changing to a diesel pusher. Not sure of the size yet...just started looking again. We saw one that has a good floor plan...and one on line almost the same.

Thor Palazzo 33.2 and the Sportscoach Cross Country 360DL.

Anyone have one of these? If you liked the colors and floor plans the same which would be the better coach?

Any outstanding 36/38/40 footers out there under $175K?

Just my wife and I 90% of time...maybe a grand kid for a few days occasionally. We want to go out 1-4 weeks at a time...when the mood strikes us to hit the road. May be in it down south 2-3 months in winter. Don't need a ton of room (We've done 6 months in ours OK) but don't want to be too cramped.
  • There is a 08 Country Coach for sale in Tulsa that is on rvt.net right now. In your price range. I'd look at used diesel pushers.

PS. You need to visit Michigan
  • Here's one to consider a DP....a Forest River Berkshire...they are a nice coach for the money...by the way Sportscoach is now owned by Forest River...
  • For $175,000 you'd be able to find a much better choice of excellent manufacturers of motorhomes such as "our Newmar", Country Coach, Alpine, Beaver and Tiffin. Keep searching! (That is, if you're considering a used unit, which is recommended.)
  • Current diesel engines require a Diesel Exhaust fluid ( DEF) to be injected into the exhaust system to allow the engine to meet the Federal emission standards. Therefore, large MH's come with a separate tank to hold the DEF as it's automatically fed into the exhaust system to 'clean" the diesel emissions as they are released into the atmosphere. I believe this system was mandatory in 2010 (?) and the only way around having one is to purchase a MH prior that that year. To most it's not a big deal, just one more thing to take care of when you own a diesel MH. It adds a few cents to each gal. of diesel used but a gal. goes a long way. Most MH's come with fairly large DEF tanks so adding DEF is done only occasionally.
  • Looking at specs on Tiffin site and noticed a mention of "diesel exhaust fluid" ????
  • You should be able to get close to that $175k by shopping for a deal on a Fleetwood Expedition 38B or a Tiffin RED 38QBA. Both of these popular floor plans have bunk beds for the grandkids.

Both of these are Freightliner Chassis with Cummins ISB 6.7L power for good fuel mileage.
