In the past we used our Class A exactly the way we wanted to. trips here and there, vacations, to the beach mostly, used it as a recon vehicle for our move here to NC and all in all it has served our purpose. Now that we live at the beach, trips usually consist of heading back to MD to visit friends and family for a long weekend. That means travelling the I 95 corridor and DC mixing bowl. Not fun in a Class A with a toad. Also, I can't keep the RV at the house like I could back home, so it's in storage. Lots of things have me questioning about whether I have the right tool for our needs now that they have changed. Looking hard at a Class B. I could keep it at my house, travelling back to MD for visits would be much easier, less to take care of, and frankly it's all I really need at this point. really more of a weekender/commuter/short trip RV than a long distance, long vacation RV. I don't know much about B's though. Seem to have a hard time finding one with sleeping for 3 - 2 adults one teenager. They also seem to be priced really high that I can't quite justify why. They do seem to get better mileage, have fewer issues and lower maintenance cost. Anyone ever go this route, or have ideas on a floor plan that would meet what we are looking for? Thought about putting this in the B forum, but there wasn't much in there to start with.

I agree that you should change your ride as circumstances change. That is why I have owned diesel and gas coaches, and everything from tents to A's. I think one of the reasons why some B's are expensive is because most are based on the Mercedes chassis.

I just got back from 2 weeks in my Roadtrek. It is great for me. With another person it would be crowded but doable. Theoretically it sleeps 4. Reality says 2. I did average 18 mpg on 1500 miles and AC running half the time.

For the money, B's are the most expensive per foot, features, conveniences. Start with a completed work van, then cut away everything they don't want, and cut holes, run wires, plumbing. Much easier in a C or A when the coach part is build from ground up. Teenager in a tent, leaving 2 adults inside at night. Except perhaps in a driving rain storm. Might be better to look at a B+ if it can be stored at your house.

Might be better to look at a B+ if it can be stored at your house.I thought about B+ mainly because I am having a hard time getting my mind out of RV mode, but they are considered an RV which can't be stored at my house. I can get away with a B. Agree on price, very expensive and a lot less real estate. Tent camping isn't really an option. We need an all in one deal. Surprising how difficult it is to find one with a double and a single. It may not be for us, doing the research at this point. Probably go to a show or dealership here soon and shop around.

Crazy as it seems, I saw this on a car lot just down the street. 2008 on a Freightliner chassis. Never seen a B on a freightliner and not sure what sort of engine is in it. Seems priced ok and low miles for an 08. Not specifically the seating/bedding arrangement I was after but it's also about half the cost of the one that does.

Any thoughts on this one?

Saw that. They are just down the road from where we used to live in MD. Probably would never buy an RV from them. They don't move much on price.

I had ClassC with small holding tanks and that was not a big issue.
5 gallons black lasted long time, while outside showering did not require big gray tank.
The biggest issue was shower stall lower than my head, making me taking inside shower with bend knees.

Really what I want is a nice SUV or van sized vehicle, that I can park in my drive, good on gas, nimble in traffic, that has a bathroom, microwave, TV , sink and places to sleep for one or 2 nights if need be. From all my searching it all comes back to a class b. Been using our Class A in this capacity for a few months now and gas gets expensive, it's a lot to load and unload, I have to keep it in storage, and it's tiring on 95/495/270 and it's slow as I am confined to 65 mpg with the toad. Our needs have really changed. And if I want to go to the beach, I am already here.

Right, that's kind of where we are. We don't really go on extended trips anymore since we moved to the beach. it's really just weekends back home visiting folks in MD.

a potential issue unless you stay at campgrounds and primarily use their facilities.
