I would never think about buying any motor vehicle without driving it first. No way!
That said, I otherwise have no problem buying an older diesel coach. In fact, I did just that last year.
We wanted more room than was available in our TT, but a bigger towable meant also buying a new heavy-duty truck to tow it. I also wanted some of the conveniences of a motorhome.
After looking around and considering all the options, I ended up buying the coach in our signature. It was/is in great condition, both mechanically and cosmetically, and the previous owner had made a lot of updates in the interior. Best of all, I got a nice coach for less money than I would have spent on a new heavy-duty truck. I have no regrets and I expect it to last another 10 years at least. (We’ll see whether I last that much longer. :) )
