I use a blue ox alladin aluminum tow bar that I bought on craigslist for pennies on the dollar...
Toad 1 is a 2000 wrangler TJ, I used the cheap brackets on a 1/4" steel plate aftermarket bumper with red locktight in all new grade 8 hardware...
No problems in 4 years towing.
Last weekend I installed a Blue ox BX1976 baseplate in my wife's 2010 Liberty.
I used the supplied hardware (6 3/8" bolts now) and supplied backing plate and red locktite and supplied steel cables to secure the towbar around the jeep's front crossmember.
I don't "think" it could ever come off.
I am considering finding a way to attach the safety chains to the safety cables rather than to the towbar.
